Rocky Carson Begins Title Defense with Maryland Win

Brings home a Silver Medal from the XIX World Championships in San Jose, Costa Rica

Laurel, Maryland – September 16th, 2018

Last spring, HEAD Penn’s Rocky Carson finished the season on the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) as the No. 1 ranked player in the World. As he opened the current 2018-2019 IRT Season in Maryland, Rocky was looking to place a firm grip on the title of “Best Player in the World”.

Rocky won four matches en route to his 26th career tournament title in winning the Men’s Professional Singles Division at the Maryland & Washington D.C. Season Opener Pro / Am. Rocky needed to sneak past his opponent in the Quarterfinals with a 11-10 tie-breaker win before dominating his Semifinal and Final matches.

Rocky now has a career match record on the IRT of 546 wins to just 216 losses. The current season is Carson’s 20th consecutive where he has been ranked inside the Top 10 on the tour’s ranking list. Rocky finished last season at the top of that ranking list and also held the top spot in 2007- 2008.

Costa Rica, San Jose – August 18, 2018

Rocky Carson from HEAD Penn’s Professional Playing Team represented his country of USA at the XIX World Championships this past summer. The World Championships featured over 200 competitors from 18 countries and was hosted at the beautiful San Jose Racquet Club.

Rocky made it to the finals of the Men’s Doubles Division of the World Championships with partner Sudsy Monchik. They earned a Silver medal after losing a tough disappointing tie-breaker to the Mexican Men’s Doubles Team of Daniel De LaRosa & Alvaro Beltran, who played well.

What is so impressive is on the International Racquetball Federation’s (IRF) international stage, Rocky has won five consecutive World Singles Championships from 2008-2016 and brought home five Gold medals for Team USA.
