HEAD Penn’s Paola Longoria Wins World Doubles Open Championships and Continues to Solidify her Dominance in Women’s Doubles in the Open Era

Denver, Colorado – May 6, 2018

Paola Longoria, the No. 1 ranked player in the world, won the Women’s Professional Doubles division at the inaugural World Doubles Open Championships. Held at the Denver Athletic Club in Colorado, the event featured the top professional players from around the world and offered a prize purse of more than $35,000.

Longoria and her partner, Samantha Salas, in the Women’s Professional Doubles division won the first game of the Championship Final, however dropped the second game. In the tie-breaker, Paola and her partner won 11-6.

Paola and Samantha have dominated the doubles scene both on the professional and international sides of racquetball for years:

            57-3

      International Doubles Wins:

2015 Pan American Games Women’s Doubles Champions in Toronto, Canada

2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada

2014 Central American Games Women’s Doubles Champions in Veracruz, MX

I have not seen this kind of dominance with the same partner since Jackie Paraiso and her twin sister, Joy Paraiso MacKenzie, played together in the 1990’s:

      Professional Doubles Wins:

            N/A

      International Doubles Wins:

            Pan American Games 1995 & 1999

            World Championships 1996 & 1998
