My Junior Championship Team training for the Junior World Championships and the 2014/2015 season

My “Adult Championship Racquetball Team” is working hard this summer in preparation for their Pro 2014/2015 seasons:

Paola Longoria continues to roll and is still undefeated since May 2011.

The Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) hosted a 2nd Grand Slam event at the Abiertos Mexicano de Raquetas in Huixquilucan Mexico. Paola won the Women’s Singles Professional Divisions.

Paola cruised through the singles draw to reach the tournament final where she matched up against Maria Jose Vargas. After taking the 1st game, Paola had a mental lapse in game 2 with Maria taking the 2nd game. Paola easily won the 3rd game, and not without a fight from Maria, Paola won the 4th game to capture the tournament title.

Paola’s consecutive match winning streak on the LPRT now sits at 145 matches, while her consecutive professional tournament-winning streak is pushed to 36. The win is Paola’s 52nd career tournament title on the LPRT.

Rocky Carson had a busy September with 3 tournaments in a row.

Rocky Carson is WOR KING for 10th straight year.

Starting with the Stratosphere 3 Wall Championships in Las Vegas, NV, September 12-15, Rocky won BOTH Men’s Professional Singles and Doubles (teaming with Alvaro Beltran) events. In the singles finals he went to a tiebreaker with Daniel Delarosa and in the doubles finals he and Alvi also went to a tiebreaker. Both well deserved wins.

The following two weekends he began the IRT professional 2014-2015 season with finishing in the finals of both the San Marcos, TX, September 18-21, and Garden City, KS, September 25-28 tournaments. He lost both tournaments in the finals to Kane, going four games in TX and three games in KS.

BOTH Paola and Rocky are headed to Minneapolis, MN for the US Open Championships, October 8-12, and this year they are both going to play in the professional singles and doubles (new event) divisions. They are both trying to capture the convened titles for both pro singles and doubles. Check them out on www.IRTNetwork.com who will be streaming live from the event. Also the finals of singles and doubles will be aired on Tennis Channel next month….dates/times TBA.

My “Junior Championship Racquetball Team,” Jordan Cooperrider, Connor Laffey and Wayne Antone are all getting ready and also fundraising for the Junior World Championships in Cali, Columbia this month.

Juniors Training Camp in Seattle September 27th, 2014 with Mitch Williams.

A few weeks ago Jordan, Wayne, and Mitchell Turner all came to train with me in Seattle, WA to get ready for the 2014/2015 season. A special guest, Mitch Williams, sparred with the kids (Wayne even took a game off Mitch) as he just moved up to the Seattle area for a job. The whole Washington racquetball community and I are thrilled to have such a legend living in our town. Thanks Mitch for coming out to hang with my kids…they LOVED it.

Watch out for the NEWEST MEMBER of my championship team, Mitchell Turner. He is training harder than ever and I am looking forward to helping him develop into a National Champion.
