My “Adult Championship Racquetball Team” is working hard this summer in preparation for their Pro 2014/2015 seasons:

Paola Longoria didn’t miss a beat from last season as she continued her winning ways and won the stop in San Luis Potosi, MX August 15-17.

The Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) kicked off its 2014-2015 season with a Grand Slam event named after Paola;  Paola Longoria® The Experience. The tournament namesake lived up to expectations in her home city and country by winning the Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles Professional Divisions.

Paola cruised through the singles draw to reach the tournament final where she matched up against Maria Jose Vargas. After taking the first game, Paola jumped out to a 10-3 lead in game two before Maria came storming back. Maria tied the game at 10-10, but Paola eventually scored two more points to take the game. Paola easily won the third game 11-2 to capture the tournament title.

Paola’s consecutive match winning streak on the LPRT now sits at 141 matches, while her consecutive professional tournament-winning streak is pushed to 35. The win is Paola’s 51st career tournament title on the LPRT.

Paola teamed up with Samantha Salas and also cruised through the doubles draw until the finals where they beat Michelle Key and her partner, Frederique Lambert, in the tie-breaker to win their first ever Women’s Professional Doubles title.

Last month Paola defeated the best players in the world at the International Racquetball Federation’s (IRF) World Racquetball Championships in Canada in both singles and doubles, as well. Paola’s gold medals were her 5th Indoor World Championships medals of her career.

IRT Pro and # 1 WOR ranked Rocky Carson and Fran Davis getting ready for the 2014-2015 season.

Rocky Carson rested after winning the World Outdoor Racquetball (WOR) Championships in Huntington Beach, CA in Men’s Singles and took home the Gold.

Last month Rocky defeated the best players in the world on the indoor courts at the International Racquetball Federation’s (IRF) World Racquetball Championships in Canada. Rocky’s gold medal was his 9th Indoor World Championships medal of his career.

My “Junior Championship Racquetball Team” went to the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO July 29-August 2nd to train with the Junior National Racquetball Team. They all earned a one year appointment to the team at the Junior National Racquetball Championships held in Denver, CO June 25-29. Jordan Cooperrider, Connor Laffey and Wayne Antone are getting ready and also fundraising for the Junior World Championships in Cali, Columbia in October.

In September Jordan, Wayne and Mitchell are all coming to train with me in Seattle, WA to get ready for the 2014/2015 season. A special guest, Mitch Williams, will be sparring with the kids as he just moved up to the Seattle area for a job. The whole Washington racquetball community and I are thrilled to have such a legend living in our town.

A special CONGRATS goes out to Connor Laffey for receiving a racquetball scholarship to attend the prestigious Colorado State University-Pueblo (CSU-Pueblo), Pueblo, CO.  He is only one of five receiving the scholarship and is following in the footsteps of some professional players who have graduated from there like Tony Carson and Nick Montebano.

Good luck and stay focused.
