December Update 2013

“Paola Longoria wins her 2nd Grand Slam in Monterrey, MX”

“Rocky Carson makes it to the semi-finals of the New Jersey Open”

“Connor Laffey takes 3rd Place in the Men’s Open and Wayne Antone took 1st in Men’s Open Doubles at the IRT Satellite in Boise, ID”

My “Adult Championship Racquetball Team” led by Rocky Carson and Paola Longoria, both had a tournament(s) in December coming off of a strong November winning their pro stops.

Rocky Carson had a rough tournament at the IRT New Jersey Open as he lost to Jose Rojas in a tiebreaker and couldn’t defend his title from last year. Rocky headed back home to California and will hit the courts hard and regroup for the start of the 2nd half of the 2013/2014 season.

Paola Longoria had a busy month for the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) as she won BOTH pro stops back-to-back weekends.

The first one was in Arlington, VA at the Christmas Classic where she did not drop a game and defended her title from 2012, keeping her 26-match streak alive.

Paola continued her complete domination of the LPRT last weekend by winning her second Grand Slam event of the season at the tour’s stop in Mexico. In addition to winning the Professional Singles division, Paola captured second place in the Professional Doubles championship.

The tournament in Longoria’s hometown of Monterrey bared her name as the “Paola Longoria Invitational” and was put on by local leaders to showcase the World’s Number 1 Player in front of her hometown fans. The total prize purse for the event topped $35,000 – almost triple that of most LPRT events.

The win for Paola was her 27th consecutive professional tournament victory. She last lost on the LPRT in May of 2011, creating a span of 108 consecutive matches without a loss!

My “Junior Championship Racquetball Team

Connor Laffey made his first appearance in the Men’s Open Division at the IRT event in Boise, ID and came home with 3rd Place.

Wayne Antone took 1st Place in the Men’s Open Doubles Division at the IRT event in Boise, ID and went 5 games with Andrew Gale in the Men’s Pro Qualifying at the ripe old age of 14.

Rocky Carson and Paola Longoria both went home to enjoy the holidays with their families’…Rocky heading to No. CA and Long Island, NY and Paola is going to defend her Cincinnati, OH title after the first of the year.

***All IRT and LPRT Tier 1 and Grand Slam events are streamed live on the IRT Network***
